At Access – By Design we believe that the internet should be accessible to everyone which is why we design websites flexible enough to display on all platforms and with assistive technologies, so that you, the client, will never miss out on a potential customer.
Fluid Design
Our websites all employ fluid design which means that the layout and text automatically adjust to suit the size of the viewing platform. This takes into account the huge array of equipment now used to browse the internet: netbooks, widescreen laptops, iPads, different monitor sizes, smartphones, televisions etc. The layout and content of your website needs to be displayed in the same way on all of these different platforms so we design our sites to keep the content separate from the layout allowing them to be presented clearly no matter how they are being viewed.
Cross-Browser Continuity
You may only use one internet browser (e.g. Internet Explorer) but there is a wide variety of browsers used today and each one displays websites slightly differently. As part of our rigourous Quality Assurance procedure we ensure that your website will appear the same in all browsers – this may seem obvious but can be overlooked by web designers.
Viewing Options
Each website comes with four viewing options. These options include the regular-sized default text which will probably be the version you will be accessing. To keep pace with the ever-increasing exposure of the web on mobile phones, we also include a mobile-friendly version of your website as standard. This allows mobile phone users to navigate through your site without scrolling through reams of text to find the navigation buttons. There is also a large text option available for people with visual impairment or a smaller monitor size, and a dyslexia-friendly version which has a cream background, making it easier for people with dyslexia to read the text.
Adaptive Technologies
Access – By Design ensures that our websites are accessible to the widest audience possible and to this end we have enlisted the help of a bank of disabled testers who audit our websites to ensure that they can be accessed using all the latest adaptive technologies.
