It has come to our attention that the new updates to the internet browser, Internet Explorer 7 has started to cause problems when trying use the styles ‘drop-down’ menu in the “back end” of websites designed by Access – by Design . The new update appears to make it impossible to scroll down styles to format your web pages.

We are trying hard to resolve this as soon as possible but it may be that I.E have followed the direction of the Apple Mac browser ‘Safari‘ and not accept the program “Tiny MC” (which is what makes these buttons work). If this is so, it may be out of our control to fix. Sadly this will not just affect Access-by design websites, but many “blogging sites, social networking sites and community internet groups are also reporting serious problems.

Things to Remember and Advice

Your website will STILL WORK perfectly in IE – it is just the “back end” of websites that are effected

If you find you are effected you will need to download a new browser to edit your website. This will take less than 2 minutes on most connections and you can also import all your “favourites” abd customised settings from Internet Explorer (or you could just use the new browser only for working on your website.

We recommend Mozilla FIREFOX 3.0.3 available FREE from the following website links. As Firefox uses web standards you will find that you have better security and more features too!

For Windows XP or Vista http://www.mozilla-europe.org/en/firefox/.

For Apple Mac visit http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/internet_utilities/mozillafirefox.html

Don’t like Firefox? Why not download the new Google browser “Chrome“, (Beta – not yet for Mac) which is also looking very exciting and user-friendly. Download free from the Google website http://www.google.com/chrome

Internet Explorer 7 still seems to work fine if you do not accept the new update. So when you are asked by your browser if you would like to update – think about this first.
